Dear Readers/Listeners,
Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement of 'Precious Thoughts'.
On trying to find a verse to use for a short message at this Easter time, my eyes lighted on the account of Jesus when He suddenly and miraculously appeared to His disciples after He had been crucified and had risen from the dead.
Hear His loving words, as His terrified disciples thought that they were seeing a ghost,
"Peace be unto you...Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have" (Luke 24:36, 38, 39).
Can we blame the disciples for being so frightened?
They didn't know what was going to happen next. They had seen Jesus abused, beaten, crucified on a cross and put in a tomb with a huge stone rolled over the opening. He had died.
The disciples were so worried of what the Jews might now do to them that they were locked in a room.
But, what unsettling news, news which was so strange - Jesus had been seen by some of the women, by His disciple Peter and by some of His followers who were saying that Jesus was alive! He had risen from the dead!
And now, here He was - supernaturally passed through locked doors and standing amongst them with His wounds in His hands and feet clearly visible.
Isn't it beautiful how He says to them, "...it is I myself..."?
It is as if He is saying, "it's me, it really is" as they looked at him with incredulous eyes. How He loved and cared about their fears and their terror. How He understood all their thoughts
How He loves me and you, fellow believer, today!
Does it fill your heart with joy dear friend? This Jesus - the amazing Son of God - really is still alive today!
Perhaps you are in circumstances which, like to the disciples, seem so strange.
You cannot understand what is going on.
All seems to have failed and yet there are little signs of hope, or little signs that make you wonder...people give you encouragement, you read words of Scripture which give you comfort that an impossible thing might be possible.
May these words be a comfort to you today, that Jesus, the Prince of Peace, is working in you and for you. He understands all your thoughts, all your worries. His love is so great for you that He gave His own life for you.
May you be convinced that He lives today, that He is your Saviour, your Friend, and that He can do 'exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think' (Ephesians 3:20).
And 'Unto him be glory' as we thank, adore and praise Him for what He has done, and what He still does for His children.
Wishing you all the Lord's blessing at this Easter time,
Love Elinor x
